Hazard perception tests in Australia
Seven of Australia's eight licensing jurisdictions have a separate hazard perception test. New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory each require one between the learner licence and the provisional licence, while the Northern Territory licensing path lists none. There is no national sitting. Each agency decides when the test is taken, how it runs, what it costs and whether public practice exists.

New South Wales
The NSW Hazard Perception Test is a touch screen test of 15 short videos, sat at a Service NSW centre for $58 an attempt, and you must pass it before the Driving Test for a provisional P1 licence.

Victoria
The Victorian Hazard Perception Test shows 25 short driving videos in up to 45 minutes, your first online attempt is free, and you must pass it before the drive test for a probationary P1 licence.

Queensland
The Queensland car hazard perception test is an online test of 25 computer generated videos, separate from PrepL and costing $42.70, and every learner must pass it before booking a practical driving test.

Western Australia
The Western Australian Hazard Perception Test is step 5 of getting a car licence, a computer test sat at a DTMI service centre or regional agent for $29.90, and you must pass it before the Practical Driving Assessment.

South Australia
The South Australian hazard perception test costs $37, can be taken online through mySAGOV or in person at certain Service SA centres, and must be passed before you can apply for a P1 provisional licence.

Tasmania
The Tasmanian Hazard Perception Test is free and online, shows 25 clips with 13 correct needed to pass, and must be passed before you book the P1 practical driving assessment.

Northern Territory
The Northern Territory Government licensing path lists no separate hazard perception test: pass the theory test and get a learner licence, practise with supervision for at least 6 continuous months, then pass the practical driving test for a provisional licence.
Australian Capital Territory
The ACT Hazard Perception Test is an online test of 25 short videos that learners take after 3 months on their Ls, with the first attempt free and $27.90 for each attempt after that.

Official clips
Aussie Learner does not host official hazard perception video clips. Where an agency publishes a public practice test, the table links straight to it. Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania run their practice inside the test itself, and New South Wales publishes a handbook rather than a practice test.
