Privacy
There is no account to make and nothing to log in to. Your practice progress is written to your own browser and never reaches us, because there is no us for it to reach.
What this site is, technically
The privacy position follows from how the site is built, so it is worth stating how it is built.
Aussie Learner is a static site. Every page you can reach was written out as a file ahead of time and is served as a file. There is no application server, no database, no account system, no login, no password and no user record. Nothing you do here is submitted to us, because there is nothing on our side to submit it to.
That is the whole reason there is no contact form on the contact page. A form needs somewhere to post to, and this site has nowhere.
What stays in your browser
The practice runner remembers a few things so that closing a tab does not cost you a test. All of it is stored by your browser, on your device, under keys this site owns.
- waratah:study:v1: The questions you got wrong, tests left part way through, and your best score on each test.
- waratah:theme: Light or dark, if you picked one. Untouched if you did not.
This is browser localStorage. It is not a cookie, it is never attached to a request, and it is not readable by us or by any other site. It stays on the one device and in the one browser that wrote it, so your progress does not follow you to your phone, and there is no way for anybody here to look at it.
To clear it, clear site data for this site in your browser settings, or use a private window and close it. Clearing it deletes your review deck and your saved scores, which is the only thing you lose. Nothing else about you was recorded anywhere.
Analytics, advertising and cookies
Stated exactly as it stands today, and dated, so you can tell how old the statement is.
As of , this site runs no analytics, no advertising, no tag manager and no third party tracking script of any kind. It sets no cookies. The typefaces are built into the site at build time rather than fetched from a font service, so loading a page does not send a request to anyone but the server holding these files.
That may not stay true forever. Analytics or advertising could be added later to cover what running the site costs. If either is added, this page is updated in the same change that adds it, naming what was added and what it collects, and the review date above moves. This page is the disclosure, not an afterthought to it.
Server logs and hosting
The one place a record of your visit does exist, and it is the ordinary one.
The files are served by a web server, and like every web server it writes an access log: the address requested, the time, the response code, your browser user agent string and your IP address. That is standard operational logging, kept to run and secure the server, and it is not joined to anything, not profiled and not passed to anybody.
If you email us
One address, and what happens to what you send it.
The address on the contact page is an ordinary mailbox. If you write in, your message and your address sit in that mailbox so the reply can be written and the correction can be traced later. Nothing you send is added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list, and nothing is sold or passed on. Ask for your message to be deleted and it will be.
Links out to other sites
This site sends you to agency pages constantly, and their rules are theirs.
Every figure here names its source and most of them link to it. Following one of those links takes you to a licensing agency, a statistics agency or another organisation entirely, and what they collect is covered by their own privacy notice rather than this one.
Children
Learner drivers are often teenagers, so this is worth being clear about.
This site is aimed at anybody studying for a learner knowledge test, which in most of Australia means people from about 15 onwards. It does not ask for a name, an age, an address or any other personal detail from anyone, of any age, at any point.
The short version
No account, no login, no tracking, no cookies, nothing collected about you. Your practice progress lives in your own browser and stays there. If that ever changes, it is written on this page first.
