Transport for NSW is the only Australian agency that publishes a motorcycle question bank. New South Wales riders practise the real questions here, under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence attributed to the State of New South Wales (Transport for NSW). Everywhere else the rider questions are original practice questions written for this site against the current road rules, with the rule or handbook cited on every answer.

Choose your state or territory

Licence stages, learner approved motorcycles and lane filtering rules all differ by jurisdiction, so start where you will actually ride.

Every jurisdiction has a car ladder as well, with its own bank, fees, logbook hours and practical pass rate.

How these pages are checked

The New South Wales format, 45 questions in two sections needing 12 of 15 and then 29 of 30, was read off the Transport for NSW rider test page on nsw.gov.au and checked on 28 August 2026. No other jurisdiction has had its rider test format checked here yet, so those pages state no question count and no pass mark at all.
