Australian driving test statistics
Pass rates, repeat attempts and demerit limits for the eight Australian licensing systems. Every figure names the release it came from and the date it was read, and every gap is shown as a gap rather than filled in.
This site has no traffic and no users, so there are no numbers of our own to report: no tests taken, no ratings, no testimonials and no pass statistics. Everything below comes from a transport agency, an open dataset or a freedom of information release, and it is attributed on the spot.

Four pages. Three of them read a release for something nobody else reads it for, and one is a reference table that stops where the evidence stops.
The rules these pages are written under

- Not a footnote at the bottom of the page. The source sits next to the number, because a number and its provenance are one object and separating them is how bad statistics travel.

- Two of the five pass rates carried here are rounded to the nearest whole percent. They are shown as about a figure rather than dressed up with a decimal place they do not have.

- Nothing is averaged across jurisdictions
- There is no national pass rate on this site. Three of the eight systems publish nothing that has been read, one figure has no publisher named against it, and two are rounded. An average built on that would be a made up number with a decimal point on it.

- Where there is no source, the row says so and links the agency. It is not filled in from another practice site, a law firm article or a search result summary.

The honest summary before any individual page: five practical pass rates, one release with attempt level detail, one release with centre level detail, and demerit thresholds for three of eight.

SA, NT, ACT carry no practical pass rate because nothing has been read off a source in those jurisdictions. The sample sizes and the rounding are set out on the pass rate page.

Every release, dataset and agency page these four pages rest on, in one list, with what each one can and cannot support.

The part of a statistics section that is usually missing. If a number is not here, this is where it says why.

- Transport for NSW already publishes outcomes for roughly 150 test centres, and a commercial competitor has republished 191 centres nationally. Copying a table that exists in two places already adds nothing, and building one for the states where the data is not held would mean inventing it. Two Western Australian centres are named here because those two are known.

- A Victorian per centre figure
- VicRoads refused a freedom of information request for per centre outcomes. The Victorian centre numbers that circulate come from a single driving school reporting on its own students, which is a sample of that school rather than of the state.

- Pass marks for Tasmania and the Northern Territory
- Third party sites carry figures for both and they contradict each other. Neither has been confirmed against a Tasmanian or Northern Territory source, so neither is stated anywhere on this site.

- Demerit thresholds for five jurisdictions
- Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory. Their agency pages did not return content on the check date, and every other source for those numbers is a repeat of a repeat.

- No Australian jurisdiction publishes a feed of it, and this is a static site with no way to poll a booking system. A page showing yesterday's wait as though it were today's would be worse than no page.
