Where these questions come from
Transport for NSW publishes the Rider Knowledge Test question bank in full under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence, CC BY 4.0, attributed to the State of New South Wales (Transport for NSW). All 316 questions are on this site. 144 of them are built around a picture, and the artwork sits outside that licence and has not been drawn here yet, so they are held out of every run. With the three integrity questions held out as well, that leaves 147 questions out of the draw and 169 in it. The published file is the one these were parsed from.
The road sign questions alongside them, and the sign artwork with them, were written and drawn for this site rather than taken from an official file.
A sign means the same thing to a rider as to a driver, so the same deck of 162 sign questions is used in both classes.

The format below was read off the Transport for NSW rider test page and checked on 28 August 2026. Anything we have not checked ourselves says so rather than guessing.

How the NSW Rider Knowledge Test runs
The Rider Knowledge Test runs 45 questions in two sections. The 15 general knowledge questions need 12 correct. The 30 road safety questions need 29. Both sections have to pass, and the sitting ends as soon as you can no longer reach either mark.
That is the same shape as the car Driver Knowledge Test, which is why the simulator in the ladder scores each section on its own rather than giving one mark out of 45. The questions in it are the published rider ones, not the car ones.
