Western Australia, car licence
All 120 WA learner practice questions, with answers
All 120 original Western Australia practice questions for the car licence are on this page, in 15 topics, the largest topic being giving way and intersections with 13 questions. They were written for this site and dated 27 August 2026, they are not the official question bank, and each one carries the correct answer and the rule behind it.
Giving way and intersections holds 13 of the 120 questions on this page, more than any other of the 15 sections. Speed limits and parking and stopping follow at 9 each, so spend your time on those three first. Nine sections sit at 8: road signs and markings, roundabouts, seatbelts and restraints, traffic lights and signs, signals and lane use, pedestrians and vulnerable road users, mobile phones and distraction, overtaking and following, and alcohol drugs and fatigue. Overtaking and lane use and hazards and safe driving hold 6 each, and alcohol and drugs holds 5. Keep alcohol and drugs apart from alcohol drugs and fatigue, and keep overtaking and lane use apart from signals and lane use and from overtaking and following.
This practice is for the WA theory test, also called the Computerised Theory Test. Department of Transport states 30 questions and a pass mark of 24 of 30, with no separate sections. The first sitting is $22.40 and each resit is $19.20. These are original practice questions written for this site and not the official question bank. The department does not publish that bank. The official handbook remains the authority, and every answer cites the road rule behind it.
That theory test is step 3 on the numbered car licence path. Step 4 is at least 50 supervised hours, including 5 at night, logged after the theory test and before the practical driving assessment. Step 5 is the Hazard Perception Test, sat on a computer at a DTMI service centre or regional agent from 16 years and 6 months, after 6 months on a learner's permit. You must pass it before the Practical Driving Assessment. You click with the mouse when it is safe to act. Clip count and numeric pass mark are not stated. The fee is $29.90, then $24.10 to resit, and a pass lasts 5 years. Step 6 is the Practical Driving Assessment, from 17 once the hours are complete.
Where these questions come from
Original practice questions written for this site. Not the official question bank. They were written against the current Western Australia road rules, with the rule cited under every answer. Department of Transport does not publish the WA theory test question bank, so nothing on this page is the wording you will meet in the sitting.

Why the whole set is on the page
These questions were written for this site, so there is no reason to put them behind an account. Reading them is not the same as being ready for the sitting, though: the WA theory test simulator draws from them in the shape of a sitting, and the 21 tests in the WA ladder mark each answer with the rule underneath it.
